Kurt Mussina, MBA

Vice President, General Manager

Kurt Mussina brings more than 25 years of international business success to his role at Frenova, including a record of leadership and achievement structuring and orchestrating global business development teams in the CRO industry. As vice president, general manager, he is responsible for building organizational alignment of functions to drive profits and research success. Before joining Frenova, Kurt held a number of executive positions, including as president of Triangle Research Labs; senior vice president of business development for Aptiv Solutions and Nuvilex; vice president of business development and client services for Aptuit; and vice president for global clinical business development for Inveresk, among others. Kurt earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Montclair State University and received his MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.

Robin Wallace

Robin Wallace, RN, BSN

Executive Director, Clinical Medical Operations

Robin Wallace oversees clinical trial project management, vendor relations and staff development among other responsibilities at Frenova. During her 25-year career, Robin has led global clinical trials of all phases for drugs, biologics and medical devices for both sponsor companies and clinical research organizations. Her therapeutic experience encompasses a wide range of specialties, including oncology, cardiovascular, orphan indications and renal disease, among many others. Before joining Frenova, Robin held numerous senior level management positions in clinical operations and program and profile management, progressing from clinical research associate earlier in her career. She was formerly a senior clinical consultant for Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics as a global clinical team leader, as well as the vice president of clinical operations at Link Medicine. She is a registered nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Villanova University.

Russell Smith

Russell Smith, MBA

Executive Director, Sales and Business Operations

Russell Smith adds over 15 years of proven international business leadership to the Frenova team. He maintains demonstrable expertise directing global study budgets, contract negotiations, proposal and sales operations and pipeline/backlog metric reporting. Most recently, Russell was associate director of worldwide proposal support operations at PAREXEL International. In that role, he led an international team of analysts, reengineered the proposal development process and was responsible for strategic global proposal and budget development for clinical logistics services as well as sales operations reporting. Previously, Russell was the director and global head of proposal management at Aptiv Solutions, where he was also responsible for all global proposal and budget development and sales operations. Russell earned his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.

christina kahn

Christina Marie Kahn, CCRP

Senior Director, Site Alliance Management

As director of Frenova site services, Christina Kahn oversees all trial activities occurring at research sites staffed by Frenova throughout the life of the trial. This includes oversight of research site protocol adherence, data quality, patient safety, site payment, regulatory obligations to the FDA and IRB, drug accountability and site performance. She is a central resource for research personnel, investigators and sponsors. Prior to joining Frenova, Christina was the senior manager for clinical research operations for the Sarah Cannon Research Institute and a quality assurance manager for the MediSphere Medical Research Center. An author of numerous publications, she is a certified clinical research professional and an affiliate member of American Society of Nephrology. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology with highest honors from Purdue University.

ann mooney

Ann Mooney, MSN, RN, CNN

Senior Director, Clinical Operations

A founder of the clinical research program at Frenova, Ann Mooney has been instrumental in the growth of the company. As senior director of the Renal Site Network, she provides oversight and study management services for all clinical trials conducted within FMCNA’s 2,200 dialysis facilities in the United States. Prior to joining Frenova, Ann was clinical manager for DaVita/Gambro Healthcare and research coordinator for The Kidney Center in Boston as well as dialysis staff nurse for Bellevue Hospital in New York. She is a certified nephrology nurse and a member of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. In addition to her R.N. from Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing, she holds a B.S.N. from Regis College School of Nursing and an M.S.N. in adult primary care from MGH Institute of Health Professions.
